Reds Blog #7 – Reds Aren’t Very Good With Runners In Scoring Position.

0-11 with runners is scoring position (RISP). That’s it, that’s the tweet. Again, for the second game in a row, hand up I couldn’t watch till the 7th inning. So yes, I saw Elly De La Cruz strike out with the bases loaded and two outs. What’s most alarming about it, as I was watching on gamecast, the first two pitches that were thrown, were right down broadway. First one he looked at, second one he swung. Guess what, IT WAS THE SAME PITCH! Pitchers aren’t even scared of this kid anymore, and they know what he can’t hit. I’m not here to bash Elly. He’s a good player and will get out of this, but if you are this talked about, I want to see you be the guy in those big moments. Give me the huge two out hit that puts your team up late. I WANT TO SEE IT!

Fernando Cruz….. we need to have some words. Here’s what I got for you, WALKS WILL HAUNT! It’s tough because I’m a big fan of Cruz. Right now, he’s got great stuff out of the pen that is VERY effective. This showed to be true last year as well. Bottom line, you can’t walk THREE batters in one inning on 35 pitches.

Offense: Jonathan India is RED HOT! 3-5 and scored a run. CAPTAIN! Another Red that is seeing beach balls at the plate, Spencer Steer. Tonight: 1-3, HR and two walks. Outside of these two, I don’t know who else you can count on offensively.

Winners of the night:

  • Hunter Greene – electric per usual
  • Jonathan India – on base machine
  • Spencer Steer – future HOF

Losers of the night:

  • Bullpen – nuff said
  • Offense with RISP – 0-11

Time to get back after it tomorrow and take care of a Mets team who is terrible. Win tomorrow, win the series on Sunday.

Go Reds.
